About three years ago we decided to sell our place at Lake Almanor and buy a second home someplace else. Not so regretfully, it didn't sell, so we still have it. It is still unofficially for sale, but because the market is not-so-unofficially down about 30%, we have decided to just ride out the economic storm and enjoy the lake for the beautiful place that it is. If you are interested in the house, contact me or at (408) 605-0199 or andy@almanor.org. We have a relationship with a realtor if you prefer, but the house is not currently listed. The "cabin" is on Lassen View across from the 3rd tee of the golf course. It is a waterfront lot about .75 acre with a 3,300+ square foot house on three floors. It has two master bedroom suites and two more bedrooms. There are three full bathrooms. There is also a large playroom, a utility room, a loft, a mudroom/laundry, central vacuum, and lots of goodies. There are steps down the lake where there is a dock and licensed bouy. We recently replaced and expanded the driveway with wonderfully snow-shedding tan concrete and we made the decks into lifetime fixtures with new synthetic wood and powder-coated steel railings. A big project that was supposed to be done last year but will hopefully get done in May 2012 is a tram that should go all of the way from our upper deck down to the water. Oh, and the new granite and marble counters in the kitchen and baths don't look too bad either. The price is currently well below the appraised value of $1,400,000, but let's face it, the market is soft. There will be a great deal here for someone who wants a beautiful place on the lake. We've put a ton of money into it since the appraisal and it is now ready for someone else to enjoy long term. In the meantime, we love the lake. We just don't have time to get up there often enough to make sense. This website is about Lake Almanor and about the Phillips family, extended by the Ciernicks and a bunch of other inlaws, outlaws, and other relatives. If you are into wine and can appreciate opinions that have almost no foundation in any reality other than my own personal impressions, check out www.winehack.net. It now has 58+ Northern California wineries and over 550+ different wines. For Lake Almanor, we have a bunch of pictures from all seasons, some history, the water level now and historically (important in the summer for boaters), some things to do, our favorite places to eat, and some links to webcams and other Lake related websites. On the family side, we have a lot of pictures, Pop's memoirs, descriptions of things going on in our lives, toys, and a lot of stuff that very few people (even some of the family) have any interest in. It's generally a good substitute for sleeping pills. This site is just for information on the fun side with a little serious opinion stuck in here and there. We won't say anything bad about anybody or any place. When it comes to restaurants, we have our favorites and their information is presented here. If a restaurant isn't here, it doesn't mean they are bad, it just means that we either haven't been there yet or they just happen not to be a favorite of ours. Feel free to cruise around. My father, Elmer D Phillips, who passed away January 30, 2006, was wise enough to get the memories of his first couple of decades down on paper, so that part of the website can really open your eyes to the realities of growing up through the depression and World War II. Sadly, my mother, Geraldine A. Phillips passed away November 15, 2012, so now we are orphans. I need to find a way to commemorate her as we did my dad. Your comments and recommendations are always welcome. We look forward to hearing from new friends by email to Andy@Almanor.org. Enjoy!
Dan captured the best of all of us and stuck us in front of the street side of our Lake Almanor Home.
